Text is stretched when displayed on a small screen (say on a smartphone)

When displaying my website on a small screen (smartphone), then sometimes text is stretched in a strange manner, cf. screenshot below.

I tried to figure out why but could not come up with a solution.

Does somebody see a way to get rid of that behavior?
