Let us bring our own logger

Hi Langfuse team, thanks for the great package that you've built!

I'd like to check whether it is on your roadmap to allow SDK consumers to bring their own logger setup, i.e pino instance.

This would be great in large applications, and would also remove friction from having to setup different logging, i.e configureGlobalLogger for Langfuse specifically, and let your SDK inherit our logger setup.

For example, we are deploying a Google Cloud Run instance, and for it to work we are using https://www.npmjs.com/package/@google-cloud/pino-logging-gcp-config along with our pino setup in order to format log messages and make the compliant with how GCP Logging Explorer needs them to be.

Unfortunately the fact that I cannot bring my own logger when setting up Langfuse in my app, I lose all this configuration.

I'd love to see your thoughts on this one.

Hi @thanoskrg do you want to have the pino logger for langfuse self-hosted or for the JS SDK?

If I understand the question correctly, I'd like to configure the global logger of Langfuse JS SDK and pass over my pino instance that I already use for my application. Does that make sense?

We are on a self-hosted Langfuse setup indeed, but not sure if this is related to what I'm asking for.

Thanks for raising this @thanoskrg - we will log this as a potential improvement to the logging setup in the JS SDK. The currrent workaround is (as you already found) to use configureGlobalLogger from @langfuse/core.
