Define mutually exclusive options where selecting one prevents selection of the other (or alternatively removes the already selected one)

Say the field is for "Assistance needed" and it allows multiple selections. But if "No assistance needed" is selected, we might want to disallow further selections until "No assistance needed" is removed, or automatically remove "No assistance needed" if further selections are made.

More generally, multivalue fields with complex sets of mutually exclusive options, perhaps with messages explaining them, would be great to be able to do.

This is surely plugin territory but i could not find anything close as a model in the plugins in the main repository and would love pointers on impossibility / ease of this and the direction it may be done.
