[Feature request] Mark as read for older entries [$50]

On busy days I dont manage to read all the provided news, Since I fail to catch up with all the entries later, it would be nice to have an additional feature, that allows you to mark older articles as read - instead of just marking all articles as read (e. g. older than 1 week, 2 weeks, one month...). In my opinion this would be a useful feature.

This kind of feature would be really useful. Coming from newsblur the feature I miss the most is the "mark older entries read" button on the feed item.

I'm not familiar on the code but if I understood correctly (with quick look around) the API for marking a feed read already takes "highestItemId" parameter. So would it be possible to implement this "mark older entries read" button on a feed item just with UI changes?

I hacked together a Python script which uses the News API. It can be used to achieve this. It doesn't have a shiny UI but only a configuration file - you don't have to be fluent in Python, it's an INI-style text file.

This kind of feature is already implemented in other newsreaders. It would be really helpful here as well.

If you don't plan to read them anyway, you could enable the 'Delete unread articles automatically' in the admin settings (documented here).
However this isn't based on age, but on the total number of articles of the feed.

Thanks for the input, this is good to know. My usage case is not a "always delete Msg No. 100+" however, rather a "I could not catch up the last 48 hours, let me delete everything that's older than 24".
