Pynacl may have different requirements, but for libsodium, any variant of "make" should work. On FreeBSD, libsodium is available in the ports, so maybe you can simply install the package, and then pynacl can use it. |

I stumbled over pynacl suddenly breaking our CI on freebsd 14.3.
The pynacl devs recommended installing gmake and setting
MAKE=gmakeand pointed out that this is a libsodium thing and they can't do anything about it.pyca/pynacl#912
Then I searched for "gmake" here and did not find any docs or related issues.
Are the missing docs a bug?
But I found this:
That means on freebsd (by default, without MAKE being set), it would prefer the non-gnu "make" over the GNU "gmake", even if the latter is installed.
Is that a bug?
