does CPU support "Intel PT" from command line

I am writing a shell script to help launch magic-trace attach.
I want to know if I should pass option -sampling to bypass use of Intel PT. To do that, I want to know if the current CPU supports the Intel Processor Trace feature.

How can I determine if the current CPU supports Intel PT from the Linux command-line ?

I know magic-trace will check for Intel PT but I want to check ahead of time anyway.

The command perf list will print intel_pt.

$ perf list | grep intel_pt

According to man perf-intel-pt, the path /sys/bus/event_source/devices/intel_pt should exist.

This is correct; note that magic-trace has auto-detection for this and will automatically switch to sampling mode if it is running on a host without PT support.
