error when dumping unknown i2c sensor

when trying to run the dump command on an unknow i2c sensor I get the following error : [159019][E][Wire.cpp:499] requestFrom(): i2cWriteReadNonStop returned Error -1 I2C Dump: Device at 0x57 may not use standard register access — trying raw read... I2C Dump: Trying read raw... E (158474) i2c: i2c_master_read(1264): i2c data read length error [159027][E][Wire.cpp:499] requestFrom(): i2cWriteReadNonStop returned Error 258 I2C Dump: Unable to read any data — device NACKed or unsupported protocol.
is it a pebcac on my part or a bug in the code ?

Not all I2C parts expose a linear, readable register space,

The command tries to blindly read 256 registers, which works for many I²C devices but not all. It could definitely be improved though
