Random resolution every stream load

Issue on Samsung TV with the SmartTV for Twitch Client regarding the resolution changing every stream load.
When loading a stream, the resolution changes to a random selection every time a stream is loaded.
I belive the issue was first noticed a couple months ago. It could be related to the TwitchTV 1440p release in june.

Is this an isolated issue to this old Samsung Tizen applikation? Is this apk even updated since 2021? My applikation is not updating through the App updater on the Samsung TV. The guide says it will update by itself, but i have not had an update at any time. I used to get updates on regular basis on my Android TV, so I know how it works.

I have not been changing the app version, but the app updated itself fine, it does silently.

Are other qualities available, and the app is choosing a random one, or there is only one or the highest one is been selected?

I have no idea what this can be please add more info.

I have tried to Uninstall the app and reinstall it. Alas, the issue remains.

Yes, all 360p to 1080p are available, it just loads streams in random resolutions.

Would it be possible to add a preferred resolution in settings on next release?

I can confirm this bug. It's been around for a couple of months now.

To reproduce: open a live stream, check resolution. If it's 1080p, close the stream and reopen it. Repeat until the resolution is suddenly lower (with 1080p still available) - usually happens within a few tries. Maybe not ALL live streams are affected though.

Just an observation, not sure it helps:

So usually when you open a stream the resolution order under the quality button is like this:

1080p60 (selected)
760p60
760p
480p
360p
160p

In case of the "random resolution bug" the order is this (let's say 760p is the random resolution):

760p (selected)
480p
360p
160p
1080p60
760p60

I would have thought if 760p is initially selected (for whatever reason) the order would be like the first one just with 760p selected. So you could either go up or down with the remote keys. But maybe that's a different, minor issue.

This has been the case for a few months. The apparent reason is that the app always selects the first resolution from the list, but the first one is no longer always the highest, sometimes they get all mixed up. It is not stream-dependant, sometimes when opening up a stream it loads 360p, and if you reload by exiting the stream and coming back it loads 160p, then the third time 1080p60 with the resolution list in correct order... it is still possible to change the resolution manually to 1080p of course, but the way the resolution list is obtained and/or constructed seems broken.

Now that i think back on when the problem began, I believe it could be related to when Twitch started offering 1440p back in May 2025.
