not sure if it's a docs issue or a code release issue, but if you disable compiling for v5 (remove CTC_VERSION_2_1 from CTC_VERSIONS, then libc6-i386 lib32z1 lib32stdc++6 lib32gcc1 packages are not installed, which are needed for protoc in the 2.8 ctc to work.
