Changing Tauon Layout & Radio?

Hi,

Can Tauon stream online radio? I didn't notice any mention here on the GitHub for it. Also does it have a biography and lyrics section, that can also work from local files, not just pulling them off line?

I've been using deadbeef, but I'm needing to switch, some plugins I use are no longer developed.

This is how my layout looks, I'd love it if I could give Tauon an exact layout, or pretty close to it.

Yes

that can also work from local files

Not bio(to my knowledge), but lyrics can, but only LRC lyrics at the moment, not plaintext.

You can stuff plaintext or LRC lyrics into lyrics metadata tag of the file though.

What about changing the layout to look similar?

I noticed the Nord theme, it was the closest look I've seen, but it didn't have the Album Art the same way.

I'm a regular stickler for this layout I have, because I've used it a very long time, and I've messed around with a lot of players, and this is what I settled on, that make the most sense and comfort to me.

Tauon can't display album arts in the playlists (could be useful new feature I think), but in the right pane (side panel) you can see a big album cover, or you can press Tab and see a list of all album arts in current playlist with current playing album art highlighted. This is Tracks + Art view.

For the bio files.

Lyrics have a synced lyrics format for example - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LRC_(file_format)

If there's a similar thing for artist bios, implementing support for that would be feasible.

Otherwise the bio feature does exist (it’s not a fantastically developed feature, but it does exist), it just pulls data from the internet.

I personally never cared about artists biography feature in music players 🤷
There are more convenient ways to see it in the browser on artists wiki page..

I just have text files I filled out the info for the lyrics and bio, placed under; ~/.cache/deadbeef/bio - ~/.cache/deadbeef/lyrics

One thing I forgot to ask...

If you notice in the screen shot I posted with deadbeef, the distance between the artist names and songs is spread out.

What I noticed with tauon, the words are all closer together, looking more bunched up, crammed.

Can the artists albums be spread out, so it's not as dense looking?

The "columns" view provides some more customisation for this. (Press MENU then its the toggle with the vertical lines)
