HP Color Laserjet Pro MFP 4302dw IPP driver broken ?

Describe the Problem
We use a CUPS print server (Debian 12, IPP sharing) in our network. We have different printers: HP pagewide 477dw and Kyrocera TASKalfa 4052ci.

We have a new printer (HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4302), but unfortunately, we are experiencing several problems with this printer under macOS and Linux that we have not yet been able to resolve.

Problem description:

1. Duplex printing (both sides)
   Despite selecting ‘Mirror long side’ in the print dialogue, the reverse side is always mirrored on the short side (displayed upside down).

2. Multiple prints
   Selecting multiple copies in the print dialogue is ignored – only one copy is printed.

3. Incorrect tray selection
   Although A4 paper is loaded exclusively in tray 2 and automatic tray selection is enabled, tray 1 is occasionally selected even though there is no paper loaded there.

Note: There is no duplex problem under Windows 11, which uses the same print server.

The problems mentioned also occur when connecting directly via Ethernet with Linux clients – i.e. regardless of whether the print server is used.

At least bullet point (1) seems to have been reported before: #632

Transferring to cups-filters project, as "driverless" queues are configured through that project's code.

You can also try updating with "lpadmin -p PRINTERNAME -m everywhere" in case the issue is a problem with the driverless PPD generator.

Switching to driverless mode solves the problem, but why does the ppd driver do that?
Both drivers were tried beforehand

• HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4302, driverless, cups-filters 1.28.17
• IPP Everywhere

The only difference is that this time I did it using the command line.
lpadmin -p PRINTERNAME -m everywhere
Otherwise, I selected IPP Everywhere via the browser. port:631

Choosing the "IPP Everywhere" driver in the web interface should have been equivalent to the lpadmin command - the only way to know for sure would be to compare the PPD files after each step.
